Buffy Number 3

Buffy now wants to be a cheerleader? She wants to have a normal life, which makes sense. It actually helps the show make more sense, because it shows that she does want a normal life, and that she isn't okay with just slaying vampires all the time. What teenage girl would ever really be okay with that, wasting their teen years saving, unless she was completely selfless. This clears up some stuff, she is caring but wants a normal life too. She also finally accepts that her friends are going to be a team with her, and she accepts that they will find ways to help her with the slaying, whether they can slay or not. We can also see her love for her mom in this episode, deep down she really wants her mom to spend time with her, which doesn't seem like what she wanted at first. Buffy begins to branch out in this episode, someone practically self combusts and she takes this occurrence upon herself too. This episode says a lot about parental pressure and fitting in, but it turns out the mother is crazy. Which ends up working better with the message because it shows Buffy how great of a mother she really has. She is actually a witch, but it may still be that she became such a witch to please her mother. Buffy now really needs her friends, she is weak and cannot do things herself so she finally depends on them. This show teaches a lot of lessons. When Chander tells Willow she is one of the guys even though she likes him, it backfires on him and Buffy tells him that he’s one of the guys.

  1. I do agree with you when you said how can you blame buffy for wanting to live a semi-normal life. I think that as the slayer, she cannot completely live a normal life, but at the same time, it doesn't have to revolve around slaying if she doesn't want it to. I also thought that it was cool that she accepted her friends as teammates. Also it was a bit of a lesson how she came to see that her mother is a very good mother, and how she was thankful that her mother was not a psycho like the witch.
